I really liked this course. It was very inspiring and honest and it felt like you were sitting next to the editor. My only feedback would be that it would have been nice to have had a summed up, or final conclusion statement, or "thanks for joining me and best of luck in your editing" video, to finish the course off. Finished this course and it might be one of the single most valuable things in terms of editing that I have seen. I went to film school and got the basics of editing and theory but this course helped to elevate everything I learned there so much. Tom does such a good job of going through his process and breaks down his work which is extremely helpful. It's like being in his head a little to understand what he was thinking and why certain edit decisions were made. Very inspiring course and one that I plan on watching through again soon.

Tom is a facinating editor and storyteller. You hear lots of stories about film production, about editing decisions between him and directors. As well as cool stories of things that happened on set (and you get to know that even with movies with all these crazy budgets mistakes still happen and there is a way to fix it if you look for a reasonable solution).
My only complaint is that we did not see much of the actual techniques of using the editing software as much. Not necessary to learn about Avid Media composer; but at least to see how he actually cuts the sequences instead of just watching playbacks from the movies.
I hope we can get a second part of this course with more practical sessions! Thank you MZed for the high quality courses!

Good info. Great to see how Tom Cross goes about the thought processes behind why he does what he does when editing different types of projects. His organizational pieces were my favorite. Hard to stay focused with his delivery unfortunately. I can tell he is passionate about his craft and wants to help others get better but it is slow and dry. Thanks for the info.
