Shane Hurlbut ASC
In this unique course, Director of Photography Shane Hurlbut ASC takes you through his complete preparation process for bringing a story to life on screen. Using the film Deadfall as a case study, we step through a complete scene, from location scout through to the final shooting wrap, learning how to deconstruct the script, block the camera and actors, create moods for different times of day and lighting conditions, and then finally call "Action!" to shoot the scene.
Join writer/director Seth Worley as he takes you on another distilled journey through filmmaking, this time sharing his experiences making award-winning short films. In this course you’ll learn the most important steps to making your short the very best it can be, from finding your voice as a filmmaker through to post-production and establishing an audience.
One of the most important skills modern directors and DPs are required to master is moving the camera in a dynamic and engaging fashion. Commercial Director and Pulitzer-Prize winning Photographer Vincent Laforet teaches filmmakers of all levels the precise cinematic language of motion, and how to move not only the camera itself, but also the components in your scene in order to bring a richer viewing experience while enhancing the story. This course will give you a solid foundation in camera movement, blocking, lensing, and sequencing, and show you how to direct any crew precisely and effectively to execute your vision.
